Recipe: Airing Your Dirty Laundry Detergent

Let's talk dirty laundry.

Some detergents contain artificial fragrances that are known to be carcinogenic and disrupt our hormones. Many include chemicals that are banned in the European Union for their proven toxicity to humans. Suffice to say, our laundry detergents may harm our health more than we realize. Not to mention the environmental impact...

It is easier (and cheaper) than I thought to make laundry detergent. And, the basic components can be used to create several other household cleaners... a homemade goo-be-gone for sticky labels, a carpet cleaner, a bathroom tile and tub cleaners, and more. With six ingredients, you can reinvest in your heath and home in a new way.

  • 3 cups baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)

  • 3 cups epsom salt (magnesium sulfate)

  • 40-60 drops lavender or lemon essential oil

  • 1 bar castile soap, grated

Directions:

  • Mix together thoroughly; store in sealed container in cool dry area

Instructions for Use:
